Subterranean termites live in underground colonies that can contain up to 2 million members. They build “mud tubes” to gain access to food and are the most destructive species, able to collapse a building. The hard, saw-toothed jaws of termites are able to bite off extremely small fragments of wood, one piece at a time.
Carpenter ants excavate wood in order to build their nests. All species usually first invade wet, decayed wood, but they may soon begin building paths through dry, undamaged wood. They build their nests outdoors in various wood sources, including tree stumps, firewood or landscaping. They usually come into buildings through cracks around doors, windows, or through holes for wires.
Carpenter bees look like typical bumblebees but often lack yellow stripes. Female carpenter bees will chew a tunnel into a piece of wood to build a nest gallery. The bits of wood she chews and deposits outside the nest are called frass. Carpenter bees bore through soft woods to lay eggs and protect their larvae as they develop.
Also all wood-boring beetles and more.
Royal Pest Management will provide you with a certified WDI Inspection Report.
A written report from a licensed inspector that indicates if wood destroying insects (i.e. termites), and/or any damages, were found on a property, and the location(s) on the property where the infestation was discovered. A WDIR is required before a home is sold or refinanced.
