• Ants will come into your kitchen looking for something to eat. Put food away in containers and into your pantry or refrigerator. If you leave it on the counter, put it in a tightly sealed containerfood on the counter, store it in sealed containers.

• Make sure you wipe down all crumbs or any food material from countertops or cutting boards. Also keep the top of your oven and inside your microwave clean.  And then rinse out the sponge and rinse all traces of food down the drain.

• Keep your floor clean…don’t leave it to the dog or cat to lick up what you drop.  Clean up spills as soon as they happen and make sure you throw it away in a sealed plastic bag.

• As you can imagine, your kitchen trash can is a magnet for ants and other pests.  If you can, put it near the back door.  If ants do get into your home and find it, they will stay there and not walk all over your kitchen seeking food.

• Pick up some bug spray and whenever you change the bag in your trashcan, spray the trash can.
